Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norway’s largest hospital with over 20 000 employees and a budget of 20 billion NOK. It is a local hospital for parts of Oslo's population. It has a regional function for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and it also has a large number of national functions. The Hospital is responsible for the majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.

The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway's largest research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7 000 employees. Professional breadth and internationally recognized research environments make UiO an important contributor to society. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education, research and dissemination for the patients’ and society’s best interests. It is organized into three basic units and has approximately 1 500 employees (about 1 000 work years) and about 2 000 students.

A permanent position as Senior Consultant is available at the Intervention Centre, Division of Technology and Innovation, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Professor II SKO 1013 /Associate Professor II SKO 1011 (20 % position) in Medicine at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the position holder attends both positions.

Arbeidsoppgaver

Regarding the full-time position at Oslo University Hospital:
The Intervention Centre is an interdisciplinary clinical research and development department for image guided and minimally invasive therapy, as well as a provider of assistive devices, within the Division of Technology and Innovation at Oslo University Hospital. It serves as a shared resource both within and outside of Oslo University Hospital in Norway and operates a testbed as a service for stakeholders on a global scale. All the seven research groups at the Centre have the same access to the advanced equipment, infrastructure with six multimodal operating rooms and necessary competent staff needed for research and development of new methods. The Centre is organized in a matrix model with seven sections. The position belongs to the Clinical Research Section.

Short description of the position’s work tasks:

• Joint responsibility for managing all projects within the field of minimally invasive surgery, particularly those related to research at The Intervention Centre.
  
• Promote and ensure interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research at the Centre, focusing on technology and new treatment methods.
  
• Coordinate and secure resource contributions from other departments to support research projects.
  
• Joint responsibility for overseeing industry partnerships at the Centre, including organizing training programs, hosting visits, and driving innovation through research collaboration.
  
• Joint responsibility for ensuring strong communication and collaboration between the Intervention Centre and internal and external collaborators that utilize the services at the Centre.
  
  Qualification requirements – education and relevant personal qualities 

Kvalifikasjoner

Senior Consultant position:

• Norwegian board certification in surgery is required.
  
• Broad experience in surgery and related research, preferably within minimal invasive surgery.
  
• Experience in industry collaboration and research-driven innovation.
  
• Strong collaboration skills with ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  
• Fluent in Norwegian and English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
  
• Strong documentation and reporting skills for clinical and research activities.
• Certificate of good conduct.
