Helse Fonna HF comprises four hospitals in Haugesund, Stord, Odda and Valen, as well as four district psychiatric centres (DPS). We have more than 4,000 employees who all work purposefully to provide the best possible treatment and care for our patients. Helse Fonna covers 19 municipalities with around 180,000 inhabitants.
Our employees are our most important resource. We place great emphasis on recruiting the best talents and do our outmost to ensure that all employees are satisfied in their work. With us, you will have a genuine collaboration with our geriatrician, who has many years of experience from hospital work both on the inpatient ward and in the outpatient clinic.
Haugesund is a city on the western coast of Norway and is the regional center for 110.000 inhabitants. Haugesund Hospital is a general public hospital, located in the city of Haugesund. It is a part of the teaching facility network of Regional Health Authority of Western Norway.
Within the Department of Neurology, we have eight consultants and eight residents(LIS3) positions. Neurology is organized as an independent unit within the Medical Clinic. The unit includes a well organized outpatient service—covering general neurology as well as specialist clinics, partial nurse- managed, for MS, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, ALS/Huntington’s disease/neuro-oncology, and botulinum toxin treatment—a neurophysiology laboratory, and an inpatient ward with 8 beds for general neurology and 6 dedicated stroke beds.
The department maintains an active research profile and participates in several ongoing clinical studies. Over the coming years, we will also be part of Vestlandslegen, a new initiative for medical education in Western Norway. This will provide opportunities for teaching responsibilities and potential affiliation with the University of Bergen, while working clinically in Haugesund.
If you are interested in a position as Neurological resident, you may contact us either in our Boot or send us an email for more information.
