Oslo University Hospital (OUH) is Norway’s largest hospital with over 25 000 employees and a budget of more than 20 billion NOK. It is a local hospital for parts of Oslo's population, it has several regional functions for the inhabitants in the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority, and it also hosts a large number of national health services. The hospital is responsible for a majority of medical research and education of health personnel in Norway.
The University of Oslo (UiO) is Norway's oldest and highest ranked research and educational institution with 28 000 students and 7 000 employees. Professional breadth and internationally recognized research environments make UiO an important contributor to society. The Faculty of Medicine was established in 1814 and is Norway's oldest medical faculty. The Faculty works for progressive education, research and dissemination for the patients’ and society’s best interests. It is organized into three units, out which Institute of Clinical Medicine is the largest, and has approximately 1 500 employees (about 1 000 work years) and about 2 000 students.
A permanent position as Senior Consultant (Gastroenterology) is available at Department of Transplantation Medicine, Division of Surgery and Specialized Medicine, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Professor II SKO 1013 /Associate Professor II SKO 1011 (20 % position) in Medicine (Transplantation Medicine and Hepatology) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the holder of the position attends to both positions.
Regarding the clinical position at OUH:
Department of Transplantation Medicine is responsible for the national services for abdominal organ transplantation. The Section of Gastroenterology is responsible for assessment and long-time follow-up of all adult liver-transplanted patients. The section also serves as a regional referral center for patients with severe and rare hepatobiliary disorders. Furthermore, the section has regional responsibility for patients with neuroendocrine tumors (NET) and has status as a European Center of Excellence for NET. The endoscopy unit performs advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ultrasonography and enteroscopy.
The Section of Gastroenterology is located at OUH Rikshospitalet. In addition to the inpatient ward and endoscopy unit, the section is responsible for an outpatient ward and a daycare unit. There are 12 Senior Consultant positions at the section, out of which 3 are adjungated to a professor II (20%) position. In addition, three affiliated consultants have Professor I positions. The section has a highly active and internationally renowned research environment.
