The Institute of Clinical Medicine has a vacant position as Professor II/Associate Professor (20 %) of Haematology. The part-time academic position is combined with a full-time (100%) senior consultant position in haematology at Akershus University Hospital, Department of Haematology.
Relating the main position:
Department of Haematology is organized under the Division of Medicine, and serves a population of approximately 605000 inhabitants. The department provides services in all diagnoses within benign and malignant haematology except bone marrow transplantation. The out patient clinic has 23 000 consultation each year. The medical staff of the department comprises 14 senior and 7 junior doctors.

The main focus of the group is clinical and translational studies within thrombosis and myeloid malignancies in the elderly. The group is also involved in clinical studies of multiple myeloma, CLL, ITP, and other haematological disease. Research activities have increased considerably over the years. The Research Units scientific staff currently consists of 1 associate professor, 1 postdoc, 1 PhD-student and 3 study nurses
By appointment, 50 % of the senior consultant position is expected to be used for research and teaching.
Requirements:
- Authorization and medical license issued by the Norwegian Directorate of Health
- Certified qualifications in the specialty of haematology issued by the Norwegian Directorate of Health, this includes qualifications and willingness to fill the role as on-duty senior physician
- Senior physicians in the department participate in weekend duty every tenth week as well as going rounds and see outpatients
- Foreign applicants may apply, with the requirement that they obtain Norwegian medical authorisation and certification in the specialty of haematology before joining the position
- Applicants must speak Norwegian, Swedish or Danish to be capable to communicate with the patients in the ward/outpatient clinic
- Hold a strong record in research within haematology with on-going research activity
- It is preferable that the applicant has research experience with clinical trials within venous thrombosis and/or myeloid malignancies in the elderly.
- Applicants must have good cooperative and communication skills

Interpersonal skills and the ability to create an attractive research environment, plans for research and ambitions relating to the applicant's personal teaching practice will be emphasized. The successful applicant will participate in teaching of medical students at the University of Oslo. As a main rule, interviews will be held and references collected. Applicants may also be required to give a trial lecture.
