The Department of Vascular Surgery now have two available positions as Vascular consultants. The Department serves 1.85 mill citizens in the capital region of Denmark. The Department covers the whole spectrum of vascular disease and functions as a national reference center for many vascular disorders including vascular mesenteric disease, complex aortic repair and acute central deep venous thrombosis. The Department is part of the Heart Center and leads the Copenhagen Aortic Center in collaboration with the department of cardiology and cardio-thoracic surgery, in which patients with advanced and complex aortic disease from the whole of Denmark are cared for.

We annually conduct more than 6 500 surgical treatments and see around 15.000 patients in the outpatient clinic. You will join a team of 2 professors, 13 consultants, 6 junior consultants and 10 vascular surgeons in training as well as 5 PhD students who collaborate with 80 nurses and secretaries to provide the best vascular care available. The department operates one hybrid room, two open operating room (with C arm access) and one angio suite daily. The outpatient clinic is operated by surgeons and registered nurses trained in advanced ultrasound applications. The Department has a ward with 32 beds.

Due to increasing patient volume, the department will expand with an additional hybrid room opening in the fourth quarter of 2023, when two new state of the art hybrid rooms will open.

We are looking for vascular consultants who are experienced in basic as well as selected highly advanced vascular treatment.  Experience with both open and endovascular treatment is a requirement, and we expect that you have a medical degree or equivalent to PhD in a relevant field. We expect applicants to participate and have an interest in continued medical training and research as well as innovation projects are highly valued. It is a requirement to be board certified in vascular surgery.

The positions include on call coverage minimum 5 times a month.

Salary and terms of employment according to the collective agreement for consultants concluded between the Regions' Salary and Tariff Board and the Association of Specialist Physicians.
