A permanent position as Senior Consultant in vascular surgery is available at the Department of Vascular Surgery, Division of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary diseases, Oslo University Hospital. The position is affiliated with a part time position as Professor II SKO 9301/Associate Professor SKO 1011 (20 % position) in Medicine (vascular surgery) at the Institute of Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo (UiO). It is required that the position holder attends to both positions.
 
Regarding the full-time clinical position at OUH
The Department of Vascular Surgery is one of the largest centres of vascular surgery in Norway. The Department is responsible for specialized regional and local services for 2.7 mill people, and covers the whole field of peripheral vascular surgery including atherosclerotic-, aneurysmal-, venous diseases and microcirulatory disorders. The screening programme for abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in Oslo and The National Centre of Deep Venous Surgery are located to the department.

The Department's medical staff participates in trauma care at Oslo University Hospital (Ullevål) and daily works closely with doctors, physiologists and radiologists at the Section of Vascular Investigations and Interventional Radiology.

The department aims to implement results from research into clinical practice and innovation, and to contribute to the academic development, education and training in vascular diseases. Teaching and the development of competence is central. Today the department has one academic position and this will be the second position. The Department has a strong regional, national and international activity within research, teaching and clinics.

The Division of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases is located at three campuses (Rikshospitalet, Ullevål Hospital and Aker). All three locations have extensive research facilities. The plan for the future is to establish one location. The Department of Vascular Diseases conducts research in all major fields within vascular diseases.

The Department is currently located at Oslo University Hospital Ullevål and Oslo University Hospital Aker.

Work tasks
  • Clinical work within the Department
  • Contribute to early implementation of new knowledge from research into clinical practice
  • Contribute to education of clinical specialists
  • Personal suitability for the position will be emphasized.
 
Qualification requirements
  • Authorization as MD according to the requirements of the Norwegian health authorities and specialist in vascular surgery with broad experience in vascular diseases
  • Research competence and experience are especially important, see also required qualifications for the part time position
  • Teaching competence
  • Senior Consultant positions : Requirement for Norwegian specialist training in relevant specialty
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • Applicants from countries outside of Scandinavia have to document knowledge of the Norwegian language, written and spoken
